Op-ed

Are you registered and ready to vote?

My nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote, is partnering with Change.org to make sure all voices are heard in this upcoming election. Today, I’m coming to you with a simple request because I know you are someone who cares about creating social change, whether in your own community or all across this country: Will you take 2 minutes to check your voter registration status?

Through Change.org, you’ve already taken steps to make an impact by signing, sharing, and supporting the petitions you care about. Now, you have an even bigger opportunity to shape the future by casting your ballot in the 2020 General Election.

This year’s election is different from any other because we’re living in the middle of a pandemic. Most states offer mail-in voting, though the requirements and deadlines can vary significantly by state, and your community may have in-person early voting starting soon. So check your voter registration today. Don’t wait—that way, you’ll be ready to cast your ballot early if you can– by mail or in-person.

Once you’re sure that you’re registered to vote, you can keep the momentum going by taking three more important actions. Because I need your help to make sure your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors are ready to vote too. Here’s what you can do:

1.    Forward this link to 3 friends or family members and remind them to check their registration: www.whenweallvote.org/change

2.   Make a plan to vote using When We All Vote’s Voter Resources Hub and help 3 friends or family members do the same. It’s your one-stop shop to register to vote, request your mail-in ballot, make a plan to vote early or find your polling place.

3.    Sign up to be a poll worker.

Don’t miss your chance to elect leaders who share your values and your vision of what’s possible. Because when we all vote, we all do better. So, if you haven’t already done so – check your voter registration status today.
