We’re all about people and the change they want to make in the world – that’s why our users are the unlikely stars of our first ever hiring video.

We considered doing what a lot of tech companies do: showcasing our beautiful modern offices complete with delicious snacks and carbonated beverages; touting our amazing benefits – including five weeks paid vacation and our new family leave policy that provides all new parents 18 weeks of paid leave; focusing on the technical challenges we’re trying to solve by being the definitive platform that empowers tens of millions of people around the world; and telling the story of a tight-knit group of silly people who love the work they do and have fun doing it.

But in the end we decided to do the most natural thing and tell this story through the eyes of one of our amazing users.

Sarah Kavanagh is an inspiring teenager who started a Change.org petition asking Gatorade to remove BVO (brominated vegetable oil), a controversial chemical not approved for use in much of the world, from all of its sports drinks. After appearing on national TV and the cover of the New York Times Business section, Gatorade agreed to remove the substance from its products. Momentum continued with additional petitions on Change.org from Sarah and other inspired members of the public, and Coca-Cola and PepsiCo announced they would remove the BVO for all of their products, worldwide.

Sarah’s victory was important but her story isn’t unique; thousands of people like Sarah win campaigns every year on Change.org. So we decided that any video about why someone would want to work at Change.org is really a story about helping people like Sarah creating the change they want to see in the world.

Thank you to Sarah and her family for their willingness to be involved and for welcoming us into their home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Thank you to Ben Poster (shooter, editor), Maia Stern (shooter/editor) and William Flynn (composer) for helping us create the video.

But most importantly, thank you to the tens of millions of users who bring their stories to Change.org every day and in doing so make our jobs so special and unique.

We hope you enjoy the video, that you’ll share it with your talented friends, and that you’ll considering joining our historic team of Change-makers.
