Nashville Saved from Cancellation After 174,000 Fans Protest
After a month of fans protesting its cancellation with this petition, Nashville was picked up for a fifth season on cable network CMT on Friday.
More than 174,000 fans from around the world signed the petition to save Nashville, including several of the stars of the show:

“CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming,” said Brian Philips, president of the Nashville-based CMT. “…We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT.”
CMT confirmed that the show will air 22-episodes in season five. The deal also confirms that Hulu will have streaming rights to episodes the day after they air.
CVC President and CEO Butch Spyridon told The Tennessean that demand for the show on social media was overwhelming, which helped to move conversations forward. Along with the petition, fans used the hashtag #BringBackNashville across social media to show their love for the show.
While itβs not common for shows to be saved from cancellation, networks are more likely to save or pick-up other networks cancelled shows if there is a visible interest from loyal watchers. Thatβs what happened with Friday Night Lights, The Mindy Project, Community, and Arrested Development.
